Gérard Fohlen-Weill has joined the CAHN WILSON team as of summer 2019, in order to extend the previous successful partnerships for more than a decade.

Gérard Fohlen-Weill holds a master's degree in business law and is a graduate of the Institut Supérieur de Gestion. He is unique in having gained extensive experience in the banking sector, particularly in the financing of infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships.

He began his career in 1976 with the Rothschild Group, before joining the CCF Group (Crédit Commercial de France - HSBC) in 1982 as Deputy Director, with particular responsibility for the automotive, mining, agri-food and tourism sectors at Européenne de Banque in 1989. In 1992, Gérard Fohlen-Weill joined the Banques Populaires Group, where from 1991 to 1996 he was successively Deputy Chief Executive Officer of SIGEC, a real estate subsidiary, and then Director of the Major Corporates division from 1996.

He joined Natixis in 1999 as Senior Banker in charge of the Building and Public Works, Environment and Transport sectors. In 2008, he helped to set up the Energy and Commodities department at Natixis, with particular responsibility for Africa.

In addition to his banking activities, he was a judge at the Paris Commercial Court from 1995 to 2009, sitting as President of the Chamber from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, he was appointed Honorary Chamber President.

Gérard Fohlen-Weill was admitted to the Paris Bar in February 2010 and joined the law firm Jeantet as senior of counsel.

In 2011, he joined DLA Piper in Paris as Of Counsel, where he worked in the Litigation & Regulatory team, providing his clients with his expertise in general litigation, restructuring, banking and finance law and his knowledge of the French-speaking and sub-Saharan African markets.

Gérard Fohlen-Weill was a member of the Supervisory Board and Chairman of the Audit and Risks Committee of Caisse de Garantie Immobilière du Bâtiment (CGI-BAT), having been a director of CGI-FFB since 1983.

He has also been an associate lecturer at the Cergy-Pontoise Law Faculty in the ‘DJCE’, ‘Business Law’ and ‘Business Law and Ethics’ masters programmes.

Gérard Fohlen-Weill is a Colonel (H) in the French Air Force and an auditor at the 51st national session of the Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale (IHEDN). He has been Honorary President of the Union of Associations of IHEDN Auditors since 2015.
